Michael B. Jordan Adopts an Inclusion Rider for His Company

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the latest movie stars to commit to inclusion riders.

No word on whether Affleck and Damon are also applying an inclusion rider to every acting project, or only their production company.

Frances McDormand's Oscar acceptance speech seems to have made a huge impact on Hollywood.

The producing partners will use the riders, which allow actors to require diversity in the cast and crew of a film production as part of their contracts, in future projects through their company Pearl Street Films.

Michael B. Jordan attends the European Premiere of "Black Panther" at Eventim Apollo on February 8, 2018 in London.

Michael B. Jordan announced on March 7 that he would add the inclusion rider to all projects produced by his company, Outlier Society Productions.

"Thank you for always supporting broader representation in the industry."

Actress-educator Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni, a childhood friend of the duo, who are coproducing her one-woman stage show, "One Drop of Love", tweeted the announcement Monday from the annual South by Southwest Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas.

The Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri star also took the chance to shine a light on the little-known term, inclusion rider. "Don't talk to us about it at the parties... invite us into your office in a couple of days or you can come to ours, whichever suits you best, and we'll tell you all about them", she announced.

At the 90th Academy Awards earlier this month, Frances McDormand won the Oscar for Best Actress and ended her speech with, "I have two words to leave with you tonight, ladies and gentlemen: inclusion rider".

USC Annenberg's Stacy Smith proposed inclusion riders in a column at The Hollywood Reporter in 2014.
