Delhi Sealing: Traders protest, down shutters in various markets

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal
Teaming up against the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress on Tuesday said they will come together in Parliament to raise the issue of Delhi's ongoing sealing drive and ask the Centre to come up with a solution.
An all-party delegation will meet a Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee to find a solution to the ongoing sealing drive, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said here on Tuesday.
"Stop the drama of allegations and counter-allegations on the issue of sealing in Delhi".
"I wish BJP had also participated in the interest of Delhi's traders", Kejriwal later tweeted, describing it as a very good meeting.
Reacting to the government's move, Tiwari said, "It is clearly established before the traders and people of Delhi that the Arvind Kejriwal government not only neglected its duty on protecting the traders from sealing but it also complicated the issue to an extent that Centre is also facing difficulties in bringing an end to the sealing crisis".
"Instead of attending the meeting, the BJP is doing politics".
Earlier in the day, Mr Maken expressed hope that the Government would find a solution to the issue which has affected traders across the city. "We should present our points in favour of traders before the committee", Sisodia said. "But the BJP wants to finish off traders by establishing foreign direct investment in the city", he said.
After the meeting, Maken said the discussion was fruitful. "The government is likely to submit the matter to SC coming Monday", said Sisodia.
In solidarity with Prakash, IAS officers as well as Civil Services officers of Delhi and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have not been attending meetings with AAP ministers, and only maintaining written communication with them.
Protesting traders took out protest march in different markets of Delhi and held demonstration at about 100 different places across Delhi demanding immediate stoppage of sealing and de-sealing of properties already sealed.
"It would have been better had the chief minister met the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee and registered his protest for carrying out a sealing drive without any notice".
The sealing drive was undertaken by the municipal corporations of the national capital on the directions of a Supreme Court-appointed committee in December past year.
