Mahama hails Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga's 'reconciliation'
The government and the opposition national super alliance were today moving to action some of the agreements reached during Friday's meeting between president Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga with the latter suspending the people's assembly agenda.
Mr. Mahama, alongside other observer groups, had declared the August 8, 2017 elections which the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta won, as free and fair, despite the irregularities alleged by Kenya's opposition leader, Raila Odinga.
However, at 15 minutes past noon Mr. Odinga's convoy pulled up at the Stoni Athi resort and he was accompanied by Siaya Senator James Orengo.
"A man can only take blackmail for so long", the source said.
Bodyguards were withdrawan in early February after the "swearing-in" of Odinga as "people's president".
Working with Jubilee, he added, would in fact be beneficial to Nasa.
Mr. Cheembe tells QTV News via telephone that the two Kenyan leaders have not waited upon external forces for them to consider reconciling as brothers saying Zambia should emulate that bold decision exhibited by the two Kenyan leaders.
"As you know, Nasa is a coalition and every member party will have to discuss this matter before a comprehensive statement is issued".
Mr Odinga, it is also understood, has been uneasy with the opposition's isolation by the West, which has denied him and his colleagues leverage to push their much-touted electoral and judicial reforms.
On Friday, Kenyatta and Odinga agreed to work together to advance national healing and cohesion after a divisive election period last fall.
They had both dismissed all calls for talks, from Kenyans and foreign diplomats but in their joint address, President Kenyatta referred to Mr Odinga as his "brother".
"It is the three principals who will have to sit and decide whether to incorporate Mr Odinga", he said.
However, during yesterday's meeting, Mr Odinga expressed concerns that the growing isolation of the Nasa leadership would not in any way have served its interests.

However, the roster move appears to be a cost-cutting decision, which won't prevent Peterson from re-joining the team next season. The network reports that Peterson would be owed a $750,000 bonus on Friday if he were still with the Cardinals.
