Tamba Hali Released by Chiefs After 12 Seasons with Team

13 March 2018, 01:27 | Anna Jefferson

REPORT: Chiefs set to release Tamba Hali

Report: Chiefs release veteran OLB Tamba Hali

Parker was also released, saving the Chiefs $5 million against the 2018 salary cap.

The Chiefs drafted Hali in the first round of 2006 draft to initially play him at defensive end, but he eventually moved to outside linebacker where he thrived.

The Chiefs' youth movement continued Monday, as they released outside linebacker Tamba Hali, a source confirmed to The Star. This season, he has 67 tackles and picked off two passes.

The 12-year veteran will finish his Kansas City tenure with 89.5 sacks, second in franchise history behind Derrick Thomas (126.5). But after a 2016 season in which he recorded 34 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks, he recorded only a single tackle in five games last season.

Parker was a free-agent signee by the Chiefs in the 2013 and spent five seasons with the club.

The Chiefs made these roster moves to clear up cap space to help bring in more players from the National Football League draft and in free agency.
