Q2 Weather: Rain and snow return

Cold Air Settles In For The Week Ahead

Peta's Forecast - Weekend Rain and Snow Mix

There is a chance for snow or rain showers though and a high in the lower-40s.

Layer up before you head out early Thursday - wind chills will dip into the 20s with scattered snow showers off and on.

Scattered snow showers, sometimes mixed with rain, will continue to move through the mountains Monday morning as that low pressure system pushes through to our southeast.

We should be able to lose any mention of snowflakes in the forecast for Friday and Saturday, although I don't think we'll be able to shake the blustery winds west to northwest breezes. Much like late last week, these quick bursts of snow will reduce visibility while driving, and could create some slick spots on roads.

TONIGHT: Snow showers/squalls. Low: Near 30. Track the snow in your neighborhood with our Interactive Radar. The air gets cold enough Thursday night for lake effect snow. "1"-2" could fall, with locally higher amounts up to 3" possible. Highs will be in the lower 40s today, but the winds will make it feel quite a bit chillier. We'll do even better on Sunday with a rare 50-degree sighting, although skies will likely trend mostly cloudy as the day progresses.

A few showers will linger, especially in east Alabama, overnight into Monday.
