Gigi Buffon's night and potentially his run in the Champions League ended on Wednesday night with a red card after Michael Oliver sent him off for dissent after awarding Real Madrid a late penalty.
In the aftermath, Buffon told Mediaset Premium that Oliver had "a garbage bin instead of a heart" and suggested that the match official would have been better off watching the game in the stands with his wife and some chips instead of refereeing it.
"I think sitting from home without tension, not taking into account the psychological situation Buffon was going through, isn't really fair".
"Right there, you can not ask a man who lives sport as deeply as I do to be balanced, because even if I expressed these feelings in an exaggerated way, they were still logical thoughts".
Buffon broke his silence Sunday, however, the veteran was unremorseful for his scathing criticism of Oliver at the Santiago Bernabeu.
An alarmed Oliver, also being hounded by other Juve players, showed the 40-year-old goalkeeper a red card.
It meant the match finished 3-1 to Juventus but, crucially, Madrid won 4-3 on aggregate and were sent through to the semi-finals.
