Trump wants Comey prosecuted for leaking classified material

The former Federal Bureau of Investigation director said Trump appeared to lean on him to go easy on former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who was indicted on charges of lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his post-election contact with a Russian ambassador.

"No one, to my recollection, asked so what's coming next from the Russians, how might we stop it, what's the future look like", Comey said. Sanders explained Trump's heated response to the book by attacking the media for giving Comey a platform, saying the president "has every right to call out that individual that you guys are propping up". Comey advised the president against pursuing an investigation because he said it would make it appear that Trump was being personally investigated and because it is very hard to prove something didn't happen.

She adds: "I think it's very clear that Comey has a credibility problem". Just another of his many lies. "His memos are self serving and FAKE!" he said.

Comey, who was appointed in 2013 by former President Barack Obama, writes that he regrets his approach and some of the wording he used in his July 2016 press conference in which he announced the decision not to recommend charges be brought against Clinton. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, for example, "said he was sick about my firing and that he meant to quit in protest". And he's continued to have trouble finding a lawyer to take his case.

Trump tweeted six times Sunday on the issues.

Comey, however, described in his memoir that his concern lay not with keeping his job, but making Clinton appear to be an "illegitimate president" by not disclosing the fact that the FBI had restarted its investigation into her use of a private email server.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump himself had a few unflattering remarks to make about Comey on Twitter. Trump said in a tweet.

There is no indication that any such tape exists, and Trump has pushed back against the allegation. The FBI and the DNC have had a odd back-and-forth on what happened on this issue - the DNC told BuzzFeed a year ago that the bureau "never requested access" to the servers and the FBI said the DNC wouldn't grant them access.

The request came in a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Friday. In 2015, McCabe's wife, Jill McCabe, ran for a state Senate seat in Virginia, backed in part with money provided by the state Democratic Party and a Clinton ally.

A poll out Friday found that Comey was seen as more believable than Trump.

Before Trump and Comey met alone, USA intelligence chiefs briefed Trump and his advisers on Russia's election meddling.

But so far, the White House's strategy was doing little to stop the barrage of news stories about the book. Trump, yes, continued. "Was she promised a Supreme Court seat, or AG, in order to lay off Hillary".

Comey told lawmakers he had given copies of his memo memorializing his talks with Trump to people outside the Justice Department and asked a friend to share its contents with a journalist.
