In Kathua, an eight-year-old girl from the nomadic Bakerwal community had gone missing from near her house on January 10 and a week later, her body was found in the same area. The body of the girl was recovered from Rassana forest on January 17 - almost a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the forest area.
Doctors overlooking the case said that FSL tests were required to determine if the minor was raped before being murdered.
Unable to identify the girl, believed be between nine and 11 years old, the Surat police on Sunday transferred the investigation to Crime Branch.
