An FIR [First Information Report] about the incident was also filed in Model Town police station against unknown persons under the Anti-Terrorism Act and u/s 324, 506-B, 427 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Police believe the shots were fired from roofs of surrounding houses and not the street in front of the house.

Makhdoom Saad, the Forensic Scientist Crime Scene Investigator, said a report on the incident shall be furnished on Monday. Initial reports suggested a bullet had been fired from a distance.

Rangers and police cordoned off the area and were conducting a search operation.

CJP Nisar rushed to Justice Ahsan's home and personally monitored developments after learning about the attack.

As the news of the firing made headlines, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar while taking cognizance of the incident reached the residence of the apex court judge.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif also took notice of the incident and vowed an immediate action.




On Sunday, the residence of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan was sacked twice in 12 hours.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has condemn the firing incident, directing the authorities to arrest the elements behind it.

Anwarul Haq, President Lahore Hight Court Bar, has called the incident an attack on Judiciary.

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, who started the legal proceedings against Nawaz Sharif and his family, said that the shooting incident may be a political motive to "pressurise" the judiciary.

Justice Ahsan often spends the weekend in Lahore, his hometown, where he, along with the chief justice, presides over several cases related to public welfare issues and other matters at the Lahore registry.

Ahsan was a member of the bench which heard high profile Panamagate case against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and ultimately disqualified him.
