The Punch reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) supported by a former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, disagreed with Buhari's position over the performance of his administration, The Punch reports. The party noted that there was no way Buhari could judge himself fairly.
Olagbondiyan, in a statement, said the question Nigerians are asking is whether the President's declaration in London, that marauders ravaging our people are deserters from Libya, is about semantics.
"Our dear President, who is already seeking re-election, should not forget to tell the world that due to his harsh policies, the middle-class has been wiped off, families are in distress; hunger, poverty and odd diseases are now ravaging our people to the extent that Nigerians, once considered the happiest people on earth, are now resorting to slavery and suicide as options".
"The simplest expectation of Nigerians is for the Buhari Presidency to be alive to its responsibility by strategically responding to the pains, suffering and lethal starvation it has caused the entire citizenry in the last three years". In 2015, the masses took over by trooping to the polling units massively to elect Africa's most popular and most trusted political figure, President Buhari.
The spokesman for the CNM, Akin Osuntokun, accused the president of failing to accept blame for anything. However, while blaming past leaders, he should not forget to blame himself since he also ruled Nigeria in the past.
"The Buhari Presidency ought to know that the London Declaration was an explicit admission of failure by our commander-in-chief". Transparency International has exposed the deception of his anti-corruption war.
"I assure you that your confidence in us won't be abused, we will do our best to justify it".
Meanwhile, the Premium Times says this meeting reaffirms Nigeria's strategic position in Africa - which was already illustrated when Mr Trump called Mr Buhari before any other African president following his inauguration as the USA president.
President Buhari also said that Nigeria was gifted with tremendous human and natural resources, but regretted that "the failure of some of the leadership we had in the past led to our not being able to capitalise on resources to improve the lot of the people".
