Vincent Kompany insists his third Premier League title is'the one I'm most proud

City were gifted their third Premier League crown and fifth top-flight gong overall after rivals Manchester United suffered a shock 1-0 humbling at the hands of bottom of the table West Brom.

It evoked memories of Sir Alex Ferguson, the former United manager, being on the golf course when he heard his team had clinched their first Premier League title following Oldham Athletic's victory at Aston Villa in May 1993.

Guardiola failed to pick up a trophy in his first year at the Etihad Stadium but has now won the league and EFL Cup - secured with victory over Arsenal at Wembley in February - this season.

"It's the same feeling as the first time, you can't describe it", he said. "When I was 20 I would have been a ideal player for him", he said. I suppose the team-mates will perhaps roll their eyes a little bit but I have never retained a title so I want to see how we react now next season.

"People are asking whether we are the best Premier League side in history, but the answer is no, because we have a lot of work to still do", he told City's official website.

I'm probably the first one to think about next season.

"Any player under him has had success because of him and how they've improved as individuals".

'We all believed in it.

Kompany and several of his teammates later toasted their title triumph with fans.

Kompany was joined by Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Fabian Delph and Kyle Walker joined the skipper at a packed Hale Wine Bar, where the players were seen belting out Oasis' Wonderwall and being serenaded by supporters expressing their delight and gratitude.

Kompany and Co posed for photos as they left the venue at 10.30pm, leaving to a chorus of "campiones, ole, ole, ole".

"He has been able to transfer to the team that hunger and desire to never be satisfied". I think there was a period of adaptation that was needed, for him and us.

City will lift the trophy regardless of the result, but you'd be safe to assume they will want to do it in style, and stick a few goals past the Swans.

"It shows what football is in Manchester. We have Reds in the family, we have Blues in the family; today was a day for the Blues, there have been many days for the Reds before, and ultimately it's banter".
