Anne Frank's dirty jokes revealed

Showing the new pages at Tuesday’s press conference
The two newly revealed pages were written in Frank's first diary, with a red plaid cover, on September 28, 1942, when she was 13 years old.
Announcing their discovery on Tuesday, the Anne Frank Foundation believes the text helped the teenager express her sexuality.
The Anne Frank House Museum said the Jewish teenager appears to have covered up the pages with brown masking paper because she anxious that other people in her hideout would read them.
Her diary entry was dated September 28, 1942, nearly three months after the Frank family went into hiding from the Nazis during World War II. On prostitution, Frank noted that "in Paris they have big houses for that". The statement said that the pages include four dirty jokes, some crossed out phrases and a text in which Anne Frank imagines herself teaching sexual education.
Experts on Anne's diary said the newly discovered text, when studied together with the rest of her diary, reveals more about Anne's development as a writer than it does about her interest in sex.
Mr Leopold added that Anne wrote about the subject elsewhere in diary pages that already have been published.
"The diary of Anne Frank is a world heritage object with great historical value, and this justifies research into it", the institution said.
"She starts with an imaginary person whom she is telling about sex, so she creates a kind of literary environment to write about a subject she's maybe not comfortable with", he said.
The deciphering was done by researchers from the Anne Frank museum, the Institute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies and the Huygens Institute of Netherlands History.
At the time, Frank was 12 years old and curious about sex and relationships like other children her age. The family went into hiding in July 1942 and remained there, provided with food and other essentials by a close-knit group of helpers, until August 4, 1944, when they were discovered and ultimately deported to Auschwitz. Anne Frank and her sister Margot died at Bergen-Belsen in 1945.
Her diary was found after the war and would become one of the most read books in the world.
The house where the Franks hid has been turned into museum, making it one of Amsterdam's most visited attractions.
