Palestinians withdraw envoy to US over Jerusalem embassy move

UAE donates $5m to Palestinians injured in Gaza protests and condemns Israel's use of 'excessive force'

US set for deeply controversial Jerusalem embassy move

"I ask my colleagues here in the Security Council: who among us would accept this type of activity on your border?" she said. It seems anyone is liable to be shot dead or injured: "women, children, press personnel, first responders, bystanders, and at nearly any point up to 700 meters from the fence".

Monday was the bloodiest single day for Palestinians since the Gaza conflict in 2014. Israel has not claimed that any soldiers or citizens have been seriously injured or killed during demonstrations.

A number of countries expressed concern at the violence and some, including Germany and Britain, called for an independent probe.

"They can't do anything". All that we can do is demonstrate.

"It's up to us John Doe and public to do what we need to do to show solidarity with the people of Palestine".

Enough killing of the Palestinian people!

Israel has faced backlash from the global community for its handling of the demonstrations. Israel's ambassador, Danny Danon, says Palestinians are just using that as an excuse to riot. Participants also read the names of Palestinians recently killed in border conflicts. French president Emmanuel Macron also condemned the killings.

On Monday, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland tweeted that her government was, "Deeply concerned by violence in Gaza Strip".

He spoke moments before the U.N. Security Council opened an emergency meeting to discuss the Israeli violence with a moment of silence.

The talks opened at United Nations headquarters in NY with a moment of silence for the 60 Palestinians killed.

Palestinian and Turkish leaders called Monday's killings a "massacre" while the United Kingdom and France urged Israel to show restraint.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley defended Israel, however.

"No one would. No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has", she added.

Calls have been made for the Government to expel the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland Ze'ev Boker.

"No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has", the USA ambassador added.

Tens of thousands of protesters had gathered at the frontier to protest, but Israel had vowed not to let them cross the border and many were shot and killed. Sweeping Israeli restrictions on the movement of people and goods into and out of Gaza, exacerbated by Egypt's sealed border on the south, have crippled the economy, fed a humanitarian crisis and snuffed out young people's hope for a brighter future. "The United States is part of the problem, not the solution".

It may be recalled that both houses of the Parliament have already voiced their position on the United States decision.

The embassy inauguration - which took place on the 70th anniversary of Israel's founding - followed Trump's 6 December recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Israel regards all of the city, including the eastern sector it captured in the 1967 Middle East war and annexed in a move that is not recognised internationally, as its "eternal and indivisible capital".
