Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was awarded this season's Premier League Golden Boot award this weekend after scoring the highest number of goals of any player. He was brought into England by Jose Mourinho, but as was the case for several talented players at Chelsea, he didn't get the requisite game-time and was instead shipped off on loan spells to Fiorentina and Roma.

"When you look at the forward line they started, we knew we were going to be in for a hard afternoon".

"The top six now is so strong, everyone's really competitive, so for us to finish in the top three for a third year in a row is brilliant", added Kane.

Champions Manchester City have broken the Premier League record for wins, points and goals this season and set another landmark by becoming the first side in English top flight history to reach 100 points as Gabriel Jesus struck a dramatic late victor to beat Southampton 1-0.

Kane saying Salah "looks like a great player" will no doubt annoy Liverpool fans across the globe but does he have a point?

Before Salah starts thinking about next season, he will be thinking about winning the Champions League with Liverpool in two weeks and perhaps even about breaking Ian Rush's record of 46 goals in a single season.

And Shearer believes Liverpool's improvement at the back has led them to a successful second half of the season that could end with a Champions League trophy later this month.

They will take on the might of Real Madrid, the most successful team in the history of the Champions League, in Kiev's Olympic Stadium on Saturday 26 May with Ronaldo and co looking to win the competition for the third year in a row.

Who are Liverpool most likely to sign this summer? 'We will also train hard to stay in shape and to prepare ourselves for Real Madrid. It remains to be seen what lineup he goes with for the Brighton game but a strong lineup is expected. As a player you want to play a lot of games. "We didn't talk much; I just said "hi" to him and he told me that he was happy for me". He improved others, as well as taking his own game up a huge gear, and did things on a pitch that most footballers can only dream of.
