Shenmue 3 Release Date Delayed to 2019 in Shocking Development

Shenmue 3 Delayed Again, Now Slated For 2019 Release

Our ambition is to deliver a Shenmue experience that will draw in newcomers to the series and reward diehard fans with its deep story and rich gameplay.

There are many constants in the world of videogames and one such constant is that Shenmue 3 will only ever be as real as its delays.

Suzuki provided a heartfelt update to the KickStarter supporters over on the official page, noting, "To all of our backers, we are very sorry for the delay".

The extra time will be used to "polish the quality of the game even further" to be able to meet the standards and expectations of the fans.

Furthermore, we've seen so little of the game in the three years since its announcement that it would have been absolutely stunning to have expected its release this year. "Deep Silver today announce that their upcoming release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019", the announcement reads. Creator Yu Suzuki also apologized for the delay, promising "to use this time to improve the quality of Shenmue 3". Hopefully this will be the last delay (in a long line of delays) for the anticipated title, but we strongly recommend that you don't hold your breath though. "We can not thank you enough for your enduring support". Deep Silver has now confirmed this, with it now being scheduled for the broad release window of 2019.

The original Shenmue was first released in 1999 on the Sega Dreamcast. According to the publisher, this extra time will give the development team enough time to further polish the game.
