The accusations have been reported on by Variety in reference to videos from a female accuser who claims that Schulman made inappropriate remarks and behaved inappropriately when she appeared on the show three years ago.

"Catfish" star Nev Schulman has denied the claims.

In a statement to The Blast, Schulman says "The behavior described in this video did not happen and I'm fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth".

"Catfish", which premiered in 2012, is now in its seventh season.

Sources close to the situation tell us they also believe Morgan is using the current temperature in society towards sexual misconduct to take advantage of her situation.

"We take these allegations very seriously", a spokesperson for MTV told The Daily Beast. In the program, Schulman attempts to determine whether or not people in online relationships are who they claim to be. The series is based on the 2010 documentary Catfish, which tracked the deceptive online romance in which Schulman became caught up. Love, Lies & Identity in the Digital Age, Schulman said he punched a woman in the head repeatedly while he was attending Sarah Lawrence College in 2006, but he was not aware his target was a woman at the time.

Nev Schulman is now married to longtime love Laura Perlongo, and the couple share one child together, daughter Cleo James, 19 months.

One of MTV's most popular series has been put on hold amid serious allegations.

Schulman did not immediately respond to V.F.'s request for comment.
