TI Reportedly Arrested Trying To Enter His Gated Community After Leaving His Key Behind

Rapper TI says guard was asleep on the job, sparking argument that got him arrested

According to Tip, his arrest is ultimately a result of calling out his gated community's security guard for sleeping on the job. Police told the station Harris ha d forgotten his key and gotten into an argument with a guard who wouldn't let him in.

Sadow said T.I. identified himself and sought entry, but the guard refused.

The guard on duty was said to have been asleep, and once awoken a verbal altercation took place between the rapper and guard.

Rapper T.I.'s attorney says his client was "wrongfully arrested" outside his gated community on disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and simple assault charges. one of the biggest names in hip-hop, with multiple platinum-selling albums and singles, production credits and roles in films like "ATL" and "American Gangster". He says he demanded the guard's name, but the guy refused. Words were exchanged and apparently the guard and/or supervisor called the police. Tip was in contact with Tiny' by phone and "Tiny" confirmed that Tip should be let in immediately.

T.I. has since spoken out on his arrest, telling The Blast that he believes the charges were racially motivated as local law enforcement are "white cops in a very white area".

The Washington Post left a message with Henry County Police Deputy Mike Ireland seeking more information. Attorney Sadow says the officers had no interest in "hearing Tip's side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip". His friend was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Channel 2 reported.

Since his release, T.I. has addressed the issue in an Instagram livestream while attending his son's classroom birthday celebration in which he referred to the arrest as "nonsense" and "small potatoes."
