Verizon adopts AWS as preferred public cloud provider

Verizon is deepening its cloud relationship with Amazon Web Services
"It is the first Blockchain SaaS [Software as a Service] solution available on the AWS Marketplace", it added, "and will help them rapidly advance their blockchain projects".
Kaleido is a blockchain business cloud, and enterprise is in its DNA. Amazon recently announced the launch of instant blockchain templates for both Ethereum and Hyperledger, but the Kaleido solution is the first Software-as-a-Service that delivered via AWS that will feature popular Ethereum packages Geth and Quorum.
Amazon has partnered with blockchain incubator ConsenSys to enable its customers to build and manage their own blockchain platforms in an easy-to-use manner with ConsenSys' Ethereum-based cloud platform called Kaleido. "These private networks offer all the benefits of the underlying blockchain technology, while maintaining the necessary levels of security and performance", wrote Ale Flores, Senior Product Manager at AWS, in a blog post. For example, now you can create an irrefutable audit trail that enables detection of after-the-fact collusion within your private chain. "What Salesforce did for CRMs, Kaleido will do for blockchain".
Kaleido streamlines the process of standing up secure, permissioned blockchain networks without sacrificing the ability to customize the environment. Although the company has a commanding lead in the public cloud market, rivals Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and others have been doubling down on their efforts to increase market share during a period when late-to-the-cloud enterprises are beginning to move away from traditional stand-alone data center models to adopt hybrid cloud approaches. "Anchoring can occur automatically at regular checkpoints to provide greater "proof of settlement finality" over all transactions, as well as on demand for specific events such as a high value trade", Cerveny explained. Many flavors of blockchain have evolved over the years as public and private blockchains have emerged. AWS is using a partner-led strategy instead of building from the ground up. They've (Amazon) been looking for partners to help get blockchain into their customers hands. "In partnership with ConsenSys and running on the Kaleido platform, we successfully accelerated Project i2i into active pilot without the complexity and cost of starting from scratch".
To that end, Kaleido's partnership with AWS comprises a larger and more general adoption milestone for the Ethereum community - AWS customers can now delve into Ethereum with more ease and nuance than ever.
