The occupied territories have witnessed new tensions ever since US President Donald Trump on December 6, 2017, announced Washington's recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's "capital" and said the United States would move the US embassy to the city.

The exchanges of fire came after weeks of mass protests and clashes on the Gaza border, which peaked on Monday when some 60 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces.

"Continued crimes committed by Israel without any worldwide response will lead to a new cycle of violence that will affect the region, Europe and the entire world, stressing that the stability of the Middle East is essential for global stability". Islamic Jihad, another terror group in Gaza, said three of its members were among the dead.

In addition, she accused Israel and the United States of "constantly finding Hamas a convenient scapegoat" for the deaths of the Palestinians "at the hands of Israeli military", saying the Palestinians' protests are "grassroots" and "spontaneous" moves and that they are not a "push button" people who act on behalf of Hamas.

"We stress to the Zionist enemy and its leaders that the resistance movements whose people are participating in this peaceful movement with all awareness and concern for our people can respond with all force", it said.

Immediately following the embassy ceremony on Monday, attended by a 250-strong delegation from the U.S. and some 500 other guests including diplomats from a few dozen countries, Abbas dubbed the compound "a settlement outpost", using language that is nearly exclusively reserved by Arabs for Jewish home-building in Israel, which they consider to be illegal.

Romania's President Klaus Iohannis, who is in charge of foreign policy, opposed the government plan.

Since March 30, more than 100 Palestinians have been killed and 2,500 injured in protests at the border fence. According to Israeli sources many of those killed were affiliated with Hamas and other terrorist organizations.

Prof Dr SM Talha said the KU teachers and students condemned the Israeli brutality in Palestine and demanded that the armies of Muslim countries be sent immediately to help the oppressed Palestinians.

Haley, however, blamed the violence on "those who reject the existence of the state of Israel".

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the European Union have also called for an independent investigation. Danon asked members of the Security Council.
