RJD said they will hold day-long dharna on Friday against murder of democracy in Karnataka
The Leader of the Opposition said the Goa Governor should follow the precedent set by her Karnataka counterpart and invite the single largest party to form the government "correcting her mistake of March 12, 2017".
The question of single largest party versus a combine with majority support had been settled by former president Shri KR Narayanan in his communiqué in March 1998 when he invited Atal Bihari Vajpayee to form the government. "We are the single largest party and given an opportunity, we will be able to form a government in Bihar", said Tejashwi. Elections were held for all but two of the 224 seats. Yet, in Karnataka, governor Vajubhai Vala, a long-time BJP member known to be close to Prime MinisterNarendra Modi, chose to give the BJP the chance to prove its majority in a floor test as it is "the single largest party".
"Yadav, son of Lalu Prasad and the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, told reporters in Patna he has sought an appointment with the Governor Satyapal Malik on Friday before whom we wish to submit that there can not be double standards". "In Karnataka too, their seat share has shrunk and they do not have a Government anywhere", Tanavade told The Pioneer.
In 2017, the Congress and the BJP secured 17 and 13 seats respectively in Goa. Three Independents also went with the BJP.
BJP alliance with other allies have 131 seats of the 243 assembly with them.
"I will meet the Governor along with our MLAs on Friday as we are the single largest party in Bihar", Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the Opposition leader in the Bihar Assembly, said. "There can not be two sets of rules and two Constitutions", Surjewala said. This procedure is not, however, all time formula because situations can arise where MPs not belonging to the single largest party or combination can, as a collective entity, out-number the single largest claimant.
In Nagaland, Leader of NPF Legislature Party, TR Zeliang also commented on the turn of events after the recently held Karnataka Assembly elections while wondering as to how different states in India could follow different Constitution of the same country.
The JD (S) leader said all parties other than BJP should join hands and fight it out together. The "material" the court had sought in its late-night hearing is the letter of support that chief minster Yeddyurappa had received from party MLAs.
The Congress in Meghalaya said on Thursday that they will stake claim for formation of government in Meghalaya since the party had emerged as the single largest party in the recent elections.
Meanwhile, RJD leader and former union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh announced protests across the state on Friday to protest against what he called the "murder of democracy in Karnataka".
Yadav said that if not opposed then BJP may try to repeat the Karnataka and Bihar eposide in the upcoming polls in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as well. "The precedent is there to follow, right?" he tweeted.
