Alberto is likely to make landfall Monday between New Orleans and Destin Florida before moving into Mississippi and Alabama by Tuesday

By 5 a.m. on Monday, the National Hurricane Center said Alberto is expected to make landfall in the panhandle later Monday afternoon with winds at 65 miles per hour.

A tropical storm warning was discontinued from Florida's Anclote River to the Suwannee River.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for parts of MS and Alabama, meaning the conditions for a full storm are possible in the next 48 hours. According to a report by CNN, the storm has already caused dreary weather for Memorial Day weekend all along the Gulf coast.

Officials in one Florida Panhandle county say that Subtropical Storm Alberto will likely dump rain on the region, but they're less concerned about storm surge.

The first named Atlantic storm of 2018, Alberto, which formed just days prior to the official beginning of the hurricane season, remains risky and will become stronger, gusting up to 65 miles per hour on the Gulf Coast over the Monday holiday, according to the NWS, cited by Reuters.

All 67 Florida counties were issued the emergency notice to give state and local governments enough time and resources to prepare, Florida Governor Rick Scott said in a statement.

Subtropical Storm Albert has gained strength as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast.

Alberto is forecast to make landfall this afternoon near Panama City Beach, Florida.

His Mississippi and Alabama counterparts also declared states of emergency, citing the threat of coastal and inland flooding from storm rains.

Subtropical storm Alberto continues to move into the northern Gulf of Mexico.

A tropical storm warning was discontinued from Florida's Anclote River to the Suwannee River. A storm surge watch has been discontinued west of the Florida/Alabama border.

A tornado threat exists in the front-right quadrants of the storm, which today is northern Florida and most of Georgia and SC.

Flooding was possible in Florida's Miami-Dade and Monroe counties after weeks of rain, with tornadoes possible Saturday and Sunday and rip currents expected on both coasts, forecasters said. Onshore areas along the coast also account for about 45 percent of USA refining capacity and 51 percent of gas processing.

Governor Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency for the area rebuilding from a devastating flood about two years ago that killed two people and damaged dozens of buildings. Heavy rains are also expected in many areas, with some locations seeing between up to a foot of rain across the Florida panhandle into Alabama. It had winds of up to 60 miles per hour and was expected to increase to tropical storm conditions as it gets closer to shore.
