The first stage successfully landed during a flight in September, but was allowed to crash into the sea Monday because it's being discontinued.

SpaceX is preparing to launch a Falcon 9 rocket that will carry the SES-12 spacecraft.

Air Force weather officials are predicting a 70 percent chance of good launch weather for the four-hour June 4 launch window, starting at 12:29 a.m.

The launch was originally scheduled for early Wednesday morning, and then postponed again to early Friday.

Engineers and technicians with SpaceX are presently assessing the health and resiliency of that booster to ensure that these Block 5 variants can be flown multiple times without significant refurbishment. The SES satellite will be one of the company's largest.

SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is ready to liftoff early Monday morning from Cape Canaveral carrying the SES 12 satellite.

SpaceX will not attempt to recover the first stage-the rocket will instead fall into the ocean. "Ironically, we need to take it apart to confirm it does not need to be taken apart". It is created to support SES's direct-to-home broadcasting and data connectivity services in the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, including rapidly growing markets such as India and Indonesia, according to SES.
