Kane celebrates with Dele Alli in England's match against Nigeria at Wembley

The announcement came just two weeks after Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino signed a five-year contract, ending speculation over his future.

The six-year contract Harry Kane signed is a milestone moment for Tottenham, and a statement of future intent from the North London club.

In a bid to ward off the potential bids from Manchester United and Real Madrid who have been reportedly keen on the new England captain - Spurs have announced a real signal of intent.

They are due to move into the ground next season after playing last season's home matches as Wembley Stadium.

The England striker scored 30 goals in 37 league appearances in the season just finished, making it his best individual campaign in the division after surpassing his haul of 29 from 2016-17.

The 24-year-old told the club's official website: "I'm really excited, it's a proud day".

The only thing holding players back from committing to Spurs long term has been taken off the table by Levy's decision to raise the wage ceiling of the club.

He made his debut in an August 2011 Europa League tie with Hearts and has had loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester.

Instead, Kane is set to continue on his path at Spurs, having previously aired his desire to break Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League goals.

"It's been a great season, like always the aim is to try to improve so hopefully I can do that this summer and obviously next season as well".
