New Jersey Trooper Stops Retired Police Officer Who Delivered Him 27 Years Ago

Trooper pulls over cop who delivered him 27 years ago. So did he ticket him?

Last week, New Jersey State Trooper Michael Patterson pulled over Matthew Bailly on a minor traffic stop in Kingwood Township, about 40 miles north of Philadelphia, the state police said on their Facebook page.

During their conversation, Bailly told Patterson that he was a retired Piscataway police officer.

On that fateful day 27 years ago, Bailly rushed to the home where Patterson's mother Karen Patterson had just returned from a shopping trip and suddenly went into labor.

The experience had stayed with Mr Bailly to the extent that he was able to describe details of the house, and even recalled the baby's name - Michael.

"My name is Michael Patterson, sir", he told Bailly, extending his hand. "Thank you for delivering me". After the Pattersons called their doctor, he guided a young Bailly over the phone so he could deliver the baby.

Mr Bailly said he remembered the street as he had helped deliver a baby there. He had only been on the job four years.

Other commenters wondered if Patterson had given Bailly a ticket for the vehicle violation. Trooper Michael Patterson stopped the police officer who delivered him 27 years ago in Piscataway.

Bailly was pulled over Friday because of tinted windows on his vehicle and was advised to correct the problem, police said.

Bailly asked where, so Patterson told him the name of the street where he grew up in the 1990s. Trooper Michael Patterson stopped the police officer who delivered him 27 years ago in Piscataway. The labor was so intense that Patterson's father had to carry her into the house.

'We're not sure what the odds are of this happening-maybe they're close to the odds of a hole-in-one, winning the lottery, or being struck by lightning-but it happened, ' the police department shared on Facebook.

"You never think a routine stop like that turns into meeting the person who helped give the resources to bring you into the world", Patterson said.
