President Donald Trumpsaid on Saturday that he has asked us representatives not to endorse the joint communique put out by the Group of Seven leaders after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "false statements" at a news conference.
President Trump departed the G7 meeting today, en route to Singapore to participate in the historic peace summit between the leaders of the United States, South Korea, and North Korea.
Calling out one of America's closest allies by name, Trump accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of making "false statements" during a presser after his departure.
Russian Federation should participate in the G-7 talks, US President Donald Trump said at the end of the summit in Canada, Reuters reported.
"The nature of the debate we had was rather appeasement and it stopped the escalation in terms of behavior", Macron, who had exchanged terse Twitter messages with Trump in the run-up to the summit, told reporters.
"This is what a G7 is supposed to be about - all of us pulling together and doing things that matter for our citizens and for the world", Trudeau said.
Still, Trudeau also gave an account of his discussions with the USA president.
Trump cited progress on reaching an agreement on the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico, saying the final outcome would lead either to an improved trade deal or separate pacts with the two US neighbors.
"The idea that, you know, our soldiers who had fought and died together on the beaches of World War II and the mountains of Afghanistan, and have stood shoulder to shoulder in some of the most hard places in the world, that are always there for each other, somehow-this is insulting to that", he said.
Before leaving Washington for the summit, Trump threatened to withdraw from the pact - reversing a statement by his economic adviser earlier this week who said Trump wouldn't walk away.
"Canadians are polite and reasonable but we will also not be pushed around", he said. He said other world leaders reacted positively to the idea.
French leader Emmanuel Macron stressed however that the U.S. was no longer the sole economic superpower in the world and urged other industrialised countries to stick together.
"People can't charge us 270% and we charge them nothing".
The document showed the group of rich, developed nations remained divided in the crucial area of protecting the planet from climate change - and it gave a clear statement that the United States remained the outlier. "He's sticking to his guns, and he's going to talk to them". The statement had been published online before Trump commented.
"So you go tariff-free, you go subsidy-free ... now I did suggest and I guess they are going to go back to the drawing board and check it out", he said. They have recovered somewhat, but are still vulnerable and Italy's new government is also a risk.
Mr. Trump, though, said conversations were cordial and respectful at the summit.
Politicians from both sides blast feds' ZTE deal
This comes despite an across-the-board rebuke from USA intelligence agencies who see ZTE as a national security threat. "When it comes to China , despite his tough talk, this deal with ZTE proves the president just shoots blanks".
