Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly decides to reject an offer for the West Londoners from Jim Ratcliffe, who is Great Britain's richest man.

Jim Ratcliffe, the billionaire boss of multinational petrochemicals giant Ineos and a season-ticket holder at Stamford Bridge, expressed an interest in buying the club amid speculation the Russian oligarch could be prepared to sell.

Chelsea's Russian owner is now embroiled in a United Kingdom visa clash with the Home Office, leading to him shelving plans for a new stadium in West London.

Despite the uncertainty, the Daily Mail report said Abramovich remains committed to Chelsea, who are valued at around one billion pounds, and had knocked back Ratcliffe's approach, which it said was one of several. Approaches from China have also reportedly been rejected.

Seven months ago, he bought the Swiss club Lausanne-Sport for an undisclosed sum as part of his company's commitment to local sport.

Ratcliffe's plans to buy Chelsea might not see the light of the day as his offer was quickly discarded, with the Chelsea owner stating he had no intention to sell the club.

The Blues' Russian owner has taken Israeli citizenship after been involved with an ongoing saga with the UK Government pertaining to his visa.

'We can not comment on rumour and speculation, ' he said.

The 51-year-old couldn't gain entry into the United Kingdom following his failed attempt to get his visa into the country renewed and following that opted to become an Israeli citizen.

Mr Ratcliffe topped this year's Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated wealth of £21bn.
