Eunice Gayson, who has died aged 90, was an actor with a film, television and theatre career that spanned several decades.

For the very first time, Connery spoke his legendary phrase, "Bond, James Bond", to the character which Gayson portrayed.

In addition to being the first Bond Girl, Eunice is still the only Bond Girl to appear in two films in the franchise. Someone with access to the account let fans know that Gayson had passed away on Friday, June 8. Despite this, she will be forever associated with her unique place in cinema history as the first Bond girl.

It was confirmed that the Croydon-born star passed away yesterday, with the news announced on her official Twitter page.

She introduces herself as "Trench, Sylvia Trench", allowing 007 to respond in the same cadence - with the greeting going on to become his trademark.

"I admire your courage, Miss, er ...?", Connery says in the film to Gayson. "Sylvia Trench. I admire your luck Mr...?" "The day took off from that moment - he was so relaxed", Gayson noted. "No" and reprised the role in 1964's "From Russia With Love".

When asked in an interview in 2012 who her favourite actor to play the British spy was, Gayson replied: "Obviously my loyalty is with Sean". Trench had been due to be a recurring character, but the idea was dropped by the director of Goldfinger, Guy Hamilton.

In addition to acting in blockbuster movies, she appeared in hit TV series including The Saint and The Avengers, as well as other films including The Revenge of Frankenstein.
