Whether they could agree to a draft document will likely determine whether Kim and Trump can sign a tangible "outcome" at the summit.

The tour came approximately 12 hours ahead of Kim's summit with U.S. President Donald Trump at Singapore's secluded Sentosa Island. Kim's very meeting with Trump is a major victory for him, something he is using both at home and overseas.

"I do not know of a single USA official - and we talked to a lot of them - or Japanese official below the level of the president who thinks North Korea is going to denuclearize", Green said.

In its illustrative preview of what the two leaders aim to achieve at the summit, the BCC said what most have been thinking - "Frankly, it's not yet clear". The move was in reaction to North Korea's criticism of United States vice president Mike Pence's statement that the country could meet the same fate as Libya if it failed to meet a nuclear deal with the US.

"He is going to make a basic assessment.is this guy serious or is, as some people think, this all a ruse and a North Korean deception?" "Beijing would welcome the further relaxation of sanctions and North Korea's diplomatic isolation", the report says. "If diplomacy doesn't move in the right direction, sanctions will increase".

"North Korea has previously confirmed to us its willingness to denuclearize, and we are eager to see if those words prove honest", Pompeo said.

At the conclusion of the summit, President Trump will participate in a media availability before departing tomorrow at approximately 8 p.m. for the United States. He had been scheduled to leave on Wednesday.

"I think things can work out very nicely", Trump said briefly of Tuesday's summit, before a lunch with Singapore's prime minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The trip marked a rare outing in a modern metropolis for a reclusive leader who presides over one of the world's poorest countries.

His first stop was a park with futuristic, tree-shaped installations, Gardens by the Bay, which also boasts the largest glass greenhouse and tallest indoor waterfall in the world.

Kim also participated in a so-called "selfie" with Singapore's foreign minister, Vivian Balakrishnan, who uploaded the photo to Twitter.

On the way back to his hotel, Kim walked along a promenade near the Merlion, a giant statue, and fountain, of a mythical creature, half lion, half fish - Singapore's unofficial mascot.

While this meeting with Mr Kim may be just the start of what might be a long and fraught journey, it is at least that - a start. Singapore residents lined downtown streets to watch Trump's armoured vehicle, dubbed The Beast, travel from the Shangri-La hotel.

"It's not like the Trump-Kim summit will solve everything", he added. He said last week that he expects to know "within the first minute" of their meeting if Kim is serious about giving up his weapons.

Kim had people around the world reaching for the dictionary when he called Trump a "mentally deranged U.S. dotard", saying he would "tame" him with "fire".

"We are hopeful this summit will have set the conditions for future successful talks", Pompeo said on Monday evening.
