President Donald Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow and his trade adviser Peter Navarro blasted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday for "betraying" the United States and engaging in "bad faith diplomacy" at this week's fractious G7 summit.

Trump, who was headed to Singapore for a summit with North Korean leaders, criticized Trudeau for making "false statements" at a news conference held after Trump had left Canada.

After President Trump left, from Air Force One, he rage-tweeted an attack on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and announced the USA was revoking its agreement to accept the joint statement of the G-7 members.

"Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable but we also will not be pushed around", Trudeau, the host of the two-day summit in La Malbaie, Quebec, told reporters.

During a rare solo news conference earlier Saturday, Trump said he pressed for the G7 countries to eliminate all tariffs, trade barriers and subsidies in their trading practices. We will stand by them and anyone who would depart from them, once their back was turned, shows their incoherence and inconsistency.

But Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Sunday on ABC's "This Week", "I'm not so sure John's right about where America is on trade".

President Trump tweeted Sunday night from Singapore attacking US allies over the trade deficit. "Then Justin acts hurt when called out!", Trump tweeted. "Our Tariffs are in response to his 270% on dairy!"

Trump's renewed comments on trade come amid a growing dispute between Washington and its top allies.

And Roland Paris, a former foreign policy adviser to Mr Trudeau, jabbed on Trump on Twitter: "Big tough guy once he's back on his airplane". The EU trade surplus with the U.S.is $151 Billion, and Canada keeps our farmers and others out. "And that ends", Trump said.

Trudeau said Canada planned to retaliate after the Trump administration announced tariffs last month that will be coming as of July 1.

Trump had set a very confrontational tone ahead of the summit by slapping tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from Canada and the European Union, and calling for Russian Federation to be let back into the summit.

Asked what Trudeau did that amounted to betrayal, Kudlow criticized the Canadian leader for holding a press conference in which he called USA tariffs "insulting".

The president has imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from Europe, Canada and Mexico, fueling fears of a trade war as a number of countries mull retaliatory measures.

The US president had also referred to a conversation he had with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard and called him a "beautiful man".

"He really kind of stabbed us in the back", Kudlow said.

"Canada is very clear", Freeland said.
