Soon, Xiaomi Mi A2 May Launch in India
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Y2 smartphone in India. Now, the company is getting to ready to launch its successor hinting that Xiaomi may soon launch the rebranded version of Xiaomi Mi 6X in India.
Redmi Y2 comes in two RAM+Storage configurations of 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB, which are priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 12,999, respectively. That said, the company has given a metallic finish at the back, though it features a plastic body. For the rear, there is a dual-camera setup with a combination of 12-megapixel primary lens and 5-megapixel secondary lens. It runs on MIUI 9 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. The XiaomiMIUI 10 software will also be revealed, and the company might announce a list of timeline for the rollout of the new MIUI operating system.
Other changes in MIUI 9.5 include easier restore options, and the interface feels more polished from previous versions.
Battle of the Xiaomis: Redmi Y2 vs Redmi Note 5
The newly unveiled Redmi Y2 is no exception, basically replicating the premium design and more than respectable features of the China-exclusive Redmi S2 at a regional MSRP of Rs. 9,999 and up. Going with the Snapdragon 625 is a win-win for Xiaomi - the chipset has been in the market for several years now, so Xiaomi doesn't need to pay a huge licensing fee to Qualcomm. However, Redmi Note 5 has a Full HD display which is 1080p resolution and thus higher than the Redmi Y2. The device was introduced by Manu Kumar Jain, VP of Xiaomi, and head of the Indian division. In fact, it has the same vertical dual camera setup on the back & a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Rumors have also suggested that the phone will be available in three color variants - dark grey, gold, and rose gold. Connectivity options of the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS. Apart from this, the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is a great budget phone that just destroyed the recently launched Moto G6 Play (and even the Moto G6).
Talking about the USP of the device, the Redmi Y2 comes with a 16-megapixel front camera with auto-HDR and AI Beautify 4.0 feature. The device has now made its way to India as the Redmi Y2 with most of its specs and design elements intact. So, battery performance will be good enough to offer a full day usage. But in doing so, it also sees itself trapped in a heavily congested price segment that is already dominated by another device from Xiaomi. The Mi phones are Mix 2, Mi 6, 5s Plus, 5s, 5, 4, 3, Note 2, Max 2, and Max.
