'Halo Infinite' trailer: Watch
Microsoft recently unveiled the game engine Halo Infinite, the newest title in the series, at the E3 2018 convention in Los Angeles, California. Without disclosing timing or details, Microsoft officials said they are "deep into" building more Xbox consoles (plural), and that they'll include AI technologies to help make gaming more immersive. If this trailer is any indication, the game's development team at 343 Industries intends to right a very critical wrong with this next entry.
The new game will focus strongly on Master Chief and the Halo universe itself, with its main focus being on 'making the world a little bit more realistic and compelling'.
Away from the game announcement, Microsoft also looped to beef up their existing digital initiatives. And even though Microsoft has been scaling back its consumer-market presence, games continue to be a big driver in the mobile and PC markets.
"We still have a long way to go until we ship the game", Chris Lee, studio head at developer 343 Studios, wrote in a blog post after the game trailer aired.
Of course, with the Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4 Pro upending the usual console cycle, all bets are off. Picking up where the fourth game ended, the sequel received an extensive reveal at the end of the conference, establishing the new playable protagonist, Kait Diaz, while showing off J.D. Fenix's new look and highlighting expanded melee combat features. And Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, its most recent success, was a PlayStation 4 timed console exclusive, although it eventually came out on Xbox One earlier this year.
A current rumour circulating online is that Halo: Infinite will be two separate releases: single-player and multiplayer. We learned a whole bunch about Fallout 76, including a new trailer, Rage 2, Starfield and new content for Prey called Mooncrash.
"Our answer: we commit and harness the full breadth of our resources at Microsoft to deliver on the future of play".
