Trump wants Russia to rejoin G-7
Qingdao - Russia did not choose to leave the G7 and would be happy to host its members in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday when asked about U.S. President Donald Trump's suggestion that Russia should have been at its latest meeting.
Kim has met Xi twice since Trump first agreed in March to attend the summit.
At present a Trump-Putin summit carries a literal life-and-death urgency.
It was Trump himself who blasted his predecessors in the White House for creating carnage in the Middle East.
"As soon as the American side is ready, this meeting will be held immediately, depending on my work schedule", Putin said.
"This used to be the G8 because Russian Federation was in it, and now Russia's not in it", Trump said outside the White House.
"True, the seven are still richer in per capita income, as they say, but the SCO economies are larger, and their population is much larger, too - half the world's population", Putin told reporters in Qingdao, according to a transcript of his remarks issued by the Kremlin. There must be a clear understanding between the leaders of the two nuclear superpowers before some mishap somewhere results in unimaginable catastrophe for both countries and for the whole world.
In a second tweet Thursday evening, Trump said Trudeau "is being so indignant, bringing up the relationship that the USA and Canada had over the many years and all sorts of other things".
Trump suggested that Russian Federation be allowed back into the global group despite their continued occupation of Crimea.
Putin also spoke of the industrialized nations, which was the G8 with Russian Federation until it was suspended from the group in 2014 when it annexed the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine.
"The US president himself repeatedly said that he would consider such a meeting helpful. Please, we will be glad to see everyone here in Moscow", Putin told reporters.
Trump joined the leaders of major industrialized nations in an idyllic Canadian resort town after days of escalating conflict over new US tariffs he slapped on imports of steel and aluminum.
"Everyone demonstrated solidarity with London over a certain event in Salisbury but nothing concrete was said again", Putin said. Trump has pointed to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's criticism of him as a reason for withdrawing from the consensus statement.
"It's kind of insulting", Trudeau said.
Canada and the European Union have denounced the US tariffs and Ottawa has proposed levies on a range of USA goods next month while the European Union has pledged its own retaliatory measures.
"The rules-based worldwide order is being challenged, not by the usual suspects but by its main architect and guarantor: the United States", said European Council President Donald Tusk.
The U.S. president had also slammed America's Western trading partners, saying "all of these countries have been taking advantage of the United States on trade".
While there have been disputes over policy, analysts say the current dust-ups between the Trump administration and longtime USA allies point to a potential shift in global dynamics.
Theresa May has criticised the tariffs and also opposes Mr Trump's call for Russian Federation to be readmitted to the group of leading industrialised nations.
Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said her country "will not change its mind when it comes to the illegal" application of tariffs.
On Saturday, U.S. Sen.
Earlier Saturday, the German government posted on Twitter a photo that shows the leaders and aides.
"It is nothing unusual and should be taken calmly, without irony", he said. "If we take the EAEU [the Eurasian Economic Union], we also have debates and it is not so that everyone signs everything right away".
