EXPRESS NEWSPAPERSThe Huawei P20 Pro has just been reduced in price
The new phone is likely to be featured for Huawei's flagship Mate series or come in a separate model.
It is pretty clear that smartphones with a large footprint are here to stay.
A 6.9-inch screen would put the Mate 20 on borderline tablet territory, and will certainly give it the title of the largest screen seen on a smartphone. The panels in question will be flat, not curved. It is also being speculated that these panels will be used for Huawei's upcoming smartphone scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2018 or first quarter of next year.
The Apple iPhone X Plus is expected to arrive with a display size of 6.46-inches while the Galaxy Note 9's display is believed to measure 6.38-inches. We should be seeing more Mate 20 news in the middle of the year, as the launch date closes in.
Huawei has reportedly placed an order for 6.9-inch AMOLED panel with Samsung Display.
The reason for choosing the high-end panels is probably because Huawei wants to maintain its status in its hometown. Among these, the P30 series is expected to be announced only after the MWC 2019 tech show, leaving a lot of possibilities for the Mate 20 Pro. It would become the largest-screen smartphone in the market, which compared to its bigger rivals Samsung Electronics and Apple's new bigger-screen phones later this year. The Mate 10 Pro is hardly a small phone with its 6-inch screen, but if the Mate 20 or whatever the sequel will be called increases this to almost 7 inches, it'll be larger than most other phones available today.
According to market tracker Strategic Analytics, Huawei is the third-largest smartphone maker globally with 11.4 percent market share after Samsung with 22.6 percent and Apple with 15.1 percent.
