WILD ATTACK: Georgia grandmother strangles rabid bobcat with bare hands

Grandmother kills bobcat with bare hands after it attacks her

Run away? In a recent news, a woman claims that she strangled and killed a wild rabid bobcat as it tried to attack her? She said she knew that they "go for your jugular".

She took a picture of the cat, and then it "took two steps and was on top of me".

BOBCAT VS. GRANDMA: Dede Mealor Phillips told me her first thought when a wildcat attacked "Not today". Knowing that her 5-year old granddaughter was sleeping inside the home, she took action after the bobcat jumped on her, she says. As a result, she knew something about the animal's behavior. She added that the moment she saw the creature, the first thing that popped into her mind was "not today!" "There was no way I was going to die".

The battle left Phillips with broken fingers on both hands and bruises and cuts on her body.

"Between the teeth and claws tearing at me, as you can see, every bit of it as it could", Phillips said.

Ironically, the attack followed Phillips applying a "Women who behave rarely make history" bumper sticker to her truck, and had been preparing to snap a photo for her husband when the bobcat wandered into her yard. Also not clear is what would have led to the animal coming onto Phillips home and whether it may have been drawn there from the evisceration of its natural habitat at the hands of humans....

Moments after the thought passed her head, the bobcat pounced on her.

"I started praying, don't let her come to the door", said Phillips.

A Fundly campaign has been set up to raise money for Phillips' medical expenses.

Animal Control officers came by later and found the bobcat was rabid.
