Roger Federer Leaves Nike for Uniqlo

Rafael Nadal is looking to win French Open Wimbledon for a third time in his career
Federer was pushed to a tie-break in the opening set when he met the same player in the second round previous year - but he needed just 20 minutes to hit the front this time around.
"I felt very good from the start which is nice", Federer, who has now one 24 consecutive sets at the All England Club after blazing to the title past year without dropping one, said on court.
But it was only delaying the inevitable as Federer, embarking on his 20th Wimbledon campaign, finished off surely one of his shortest matches with a 6-1 6-3 6-4 victory taking just one hour and 19 minutes.
According to Rovell, the RF logo belongs to Nike, but Federer is optimistic that a deal will be worked out so that he can still use it.
And on Monday Federer appeared on Centre Court wearing a brand new Uniqlo strip, thus ending his 10-year partnership with Nike which was said to have been worth $10m (about €8.6m) a year.
The sports news website also said Nike had been given the chance to match the new contract but declined. "For now, I will be wearing Nike", he said.
ESPN reports that 36-year-old Federer was looking to negotiate with Nike for more money before signing his deal with Uniqlo. "It's also something that was very important for me, for the fans really". But the good news is that it will come with me at one point.
"They are my initials".
Having essentially switched a $10m per year contract with Nike with a $30m per year deal with Uniqlo, he is virtually assured of topping that list again in 2018.
The top seed, however, hopes to retain some ties with Nike as he was still wearing the swoosh-marked footwear on Monday, since Uniqlo does not manufacture shoes. The brand has previously outfitted Novak Djokovic with little success and the two parties parted in 2017.
