HORNBROOK Ore. – A local community is being partially evacuated due to a wildfire in Siskiyou County

"Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued an emergency proclamation for Siskiyou County due to the effects of the Klamathon Fire, which has destroyed structures, threatened homes and critical infrastructure and caused the evacuation of residents", the declaration said.

Officials described a chaotic scene as the fire burst out of control around 8:40 p.m., catching some residents off guard.

"We have roughly about 500 firefighters assigned, and we have more coming in today, including an incident management team", says Lee Beyer, a public information officer with the U.S. Forest Service.

North-northwest winds were blowing the embers and flames from the house fire downhill, toward downtown Goleta, Zaniboni said.

The Holiday Fire is causing conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property within the County of Santa Barbara. The blaze was 48% contained by Saturday morning, but had already burned 10 structures, according to Cal Fire. No injuries were reported.

The fire in Goleta was fueled by sundowner winds _ notorious in the region and responsible for numerous area's most devastating fires over the years _ and record temperatures that stayed above 100 degrees well into Friday night.

"When we came out, there were fist-sized embers falling all over the place", he said.

The fire spans about 75 square miles (193 square kilometers) near a popular fishing reservoir about 80 miles (130 kilometers) southeast of Salt Lake City, according to the Utah Division Forestry Fire State Lands.

"They need to be prepared". "They have to know how to get out of their community or away from their home if a wildfire does strike".

There are now 1,083 firefighters working the blaze, including 88 fire engines and 31 helicopters. They were transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition. The blaze has burned about 75 square miles and destroyed 90 structures, including homes, cabins, sheds and garages, since starting Sunday in the mountains.

A fast-moving wildfire driven by strong wind and high temperatures tore through homes north of Los Angeles on Friday. The National Weather Service is warning of temperatures as high as 110 degrees for Saturday in certain counties.
