Cohen's new lawyer slams Giuliani over Russian Federation investigation

Rudy Giuliani says Michael Cohen should cooperate with federal investigators

Trump lawyers call Comey 'Machiavellian' in note to Mueller

It's not clear to what extent, if any, the attacks on Comey have resonated with Mueller's team, which is broadly investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and continues to seek an interview with the president to assess whether he had a corrupt intent when he fired the Federal Bureau of Investigation director. Bash noted the investigation began even before Mueller's appointment, based on tips the FBI and Department of Justice received about Trump campaign associates; Stephanopoulos pointed to former FBI Director James Comey's testimony, which suggested the president attempted to obstruct an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

The report showed the lead investigator on the probe, Peter Strzok, who also led the Russian Federation probe, was strongly biased against Trump and even vowed to "stop" Trump from being elected, according to text messages he sent.

And referring to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's lengthy Russian Federation probe, he added: 'There was no Collusion and the Witch Hunt, headed by 13 Angry Democrats and others who are totally conflicted, is Rigged!'

Rudy Giuliani, the lawyer for President Trump, said Sunday that Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen "should cooperate with the government". According to a filing submitted to the court Tuesday night by special master Barbara Jones, federal prosecutors investigating Michael Cohen, a longtime personal lawyer and confidante for President Donald Trump, are set to receive 1 million files from three of his cellphones that were seized last month.

Lawyers for Mr. Trump had been eyeing early July as a possible time for an interview with the special counsel, likely at Camp David or the White House and lasting for about 2½ hours.

Trump has repeatedly said that he wants to meet with Mueller.

"It's our, it's our firm belief, and we think nothing contradicts this, that the president did nothing wrong", Giuliani said. "One day I will answer", he said.

Stephanopoulos asked Giuliani about Cohen's recent exclusive interview with ABC News in which he indictated his willingness to cooperate with Mueller and federal prosecutors in the Southern District of NY. Mr. Strzok was reassigned from his post last summer after Mr. Mueller learned about the messages.

Host Chuck Todd asked if Giuliani wanted Cohen to cooperate with investigators, and Giuliani responded: "Yes". I'd want to see if they're texting the same thing [as Strzok], and I'm willing to bet a dinner that they are'.

"I don't agree with those who demonize or vilify the FBI", Cohen was quoted as saying.

Lawyers for Comey declined to comment Saturday, as did Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller. "And his lead investigator is probably going to go to jail-the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who said you have to "stop" Trump", Giuliani said.

"We don't know why Cohen is doing what he's doing right now other than the fact that I can tell you he is frustrated, he is infuriated by Rudy Giuliani and feels kind of shunted aside by the person that he was the ultimate loyalist for, who's, of course, the President of the United States", Borger said.

"Simply accepting the denial of Mr. Putin is unsustainable", Cohen said.
