“Orange Is the New Black”
JoJo Whilden Netflix
We'll see the Litchfield women a week after the end of the season five riot where they are split up in a new facility. The core group now finds itself in maximum security, where the game is not what they are used to - blues and khakis join the mix - and the pressure to roll over on their friends emerges.
All of season six will be put on Netflix on 27 July, and naturally fans are absolutely buzzing.
Indeed for a maximum security prison, it seems the color-coded gangs have plenty of opportunity to mix it up. After the events of Season 5, new charges will bring new deals that will test the bonds that have been made over the course of the series. The women have to start from the bottom and have to navigate new rules and power dynamics, getting hazed by inmates and tortured by guards. Of course we're going to watch it, but this is the first time an upcoming season of the show feels more like an assignment rather than something we're looking forward to.
"They want us to go down, regardless of what we did or didn't do", Kate Mulgrew's Red says.
As with all seasons of Orange is the New Black, there will be comedy mixed with drama and with Season 6 placing them all back to square one, all bets are off. Maritza, the character played by Diane Guerrero and BFF to Flaca, is not visible in any scenes from the trailer.
But if you don't think you'll be able to wait that long for your Litchfield fix, we have just the thing for you.
Season six is coming SOON, and all episodes will be dropping on Netflix in July.
