World's Ugliest Dog, Zsa Zsa the English bulldog, dies weeks after winning title

Zsa Zsa, the 'World's Ugliest Dog,' dies

Zsa Zsa, a 9-year-old English bulldog who captured the prestigious puppy title a little over a week ago, passed away in her sleep Tuesday morning, her owner Megan Brainard told Today. He says she appeared fine the day before, so it was a shock.

On June 23, the Sonoma-Marin Fair hosted its annual World's Ugliest Dog Contest where only one not-so-cute pooch could claim the title.

"Looks are deceiving, some thought she looked scary, but she was the most gentle dog", said Larson.

The dog spent her final weeks travelling and making television appearances.

With her crooked underbite and lolling tongue, Zsa Zsa quickly warmed the hearts of the world.

The nine-year-old English Bulldog whose lolling tongue and crooked underbite made her the victor back in June died in her sleep, the post stated.

After her win, she was awarded $1,500 and flown to NY first class. We were all saying our goodbyes and Mareslie went right over and gave her a kiss.

Zsa Zsa's family drove about 30 hours to California last month to enter her in the Ugliest Dog pageant, where she beat out 13 competitors to take home the trophy and $1,500. "It's been two weeks and I still don't believe it", Brainard told the TV show. Brainard said Zsa Zsa's death was "devastating" and that she and her family were still processing her passing, according to the Today show. Zsa Zsa bested a terrier with dreadlocks named Scamp to take home the win.

"From the moment we saw her attractive face, we knew we would be her forever home", Brainard said at the time.
