In the ICC T20I team rankings, Pakistan have retained the top position with their tri-series victory while India have overtaken Australia to take second place after clinching their three-match series win against England 2-1. His sequence in Zimbabwe tri-series was 61, 6, 47, 73 (his career-best score before the final) and 91.

He played no small role in Australia bouncing back from a spate of losses across formats in recent times, but it was still not enough for his team to win the title.

Australia captain Aaron Finch chipped in with 47 runs.

Finch, the new captain of the Australian T20I side, had a remarkable run during the tournament in Zimbabwe.

The two sides having reached the decider ahead of hosts Zimbabwe, Pakistan fought back from a slow start with the ball to restrict an initially rampant Australia to the nevertheless daunting total of 183-8 at Harare Sports Club.

BOWLING: Mohammad Amir 4-0-33-3, Faheem Ashraf 4-0-38-1, Hasan Ali 4-0-38-1, Shaheen Shah Afridi 4-0-32-1, Shadab Khan 4-0-38-2.

Maxwell had reduced Pakistan to 2-2 in the first over but Zaman and Shoaib Malik, who scored an unbeaten 43, shared a century stand to see Pakistan home.

A year ago he was no way near Pakistan cricket, now Fakhar Zaman has become an integral part of the team, single-handedly winning games for the green shirts. Like the Champions Trophy, in the final, he got that hundred.

Mohammad Amir was the highest wicket-taker for Pakistan, who picked up three wickets, while for Australia it was Glenn Maxwell who picked up two wickets. He is truly a gift that keeps on giving and is a source of inspiration for many a young batsman of humble background around Pakistan. A sign of a quality player.

With its youthful exuberance coming to the fore, the present team is growing and progressing well, both individually and collectively. Witness the superb catch by Shadab to dismiss a very unsafe looking Alex Carey in the final, and the delight that youth can bring to this side becomes more evident. "We saw with Shoaib Malik there, towards the end, if you have a batter who's in, they can control the game, they control the strike".

But the left-hander had played a pivotal role a match earlier against the home side with a 42-ball 46, ensuring captain Aaron Finch received the lion's share of the strike in their 223-run first-wicket stand, the biggest partnership in T20 worldwide history.

Pakistan's Shadab Khan has pulled off a spectacular one-handed catch to dismiss Australian batsman Alex Carey in the T20 tri-series.

For this, apart from the players themselves, the selectors and the chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq must all be congratulated. "That's how he needs to play his cricket", he added speaking about Finch and the impact he has created.
