Riyad Mahrez unconcerned by Manchester City competition: 'I never thought about that'
I want to be part of this.
Mahrez, speaking at his unveiling at City, said: "I believe "H" is a very good player".
However, Mahrez finally got his wish of signing for the Citizens this week, and has since explained his desire to compete in the UEFA Champions League and play under Pep Guardiola. We're going to start to work this week and then we will see.
After their title success, City are now striving to win the Champions League and that ambition was of huge appeal to Mahrez.
Comparing City starlet Phil Foden to masterful World Cup finalist Luka Modric, Redknapp said: "I watch him and the way that he plays, with that technical ability he possesses maybe he can be the one that does that for us in a couple of years".
He said: "The Champions League is for big clubs, they're a big club, they have everything to try to win it".
Mahrez, 27, temporarily stopped training with Leicester after a move from the Foxes to City failed to materialise in January. Now I'm here and I'm happy.
"I haven't talked about my precise position with the manager yet, but City wanted me and that means a lot", Mahrez said. "It's a goal. Now we will have to work and see what can happen".
Like everyone else Mahrez has been watching the World Cup this summer, keeping in touch with Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy and sharing the Leicester pair's pain when England went out.
Centre-back Maguire could now also find himself a man in demand as a result of his eye-catching performances during England's run to the semi-finals in Russian Federation.
Guardiola already has an impressive number of attacking choices to pick from with Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane firing City to 100 points with a record 106 goals last season.
"Writing above a picture of England players applauding their supporters in Moscow, Walker tweeted: 'I'm still heartbroken and never felt so gutted".
