Kahali Johnson found his wife Tameka Hargrave, 39, and her lover, 56, dead of carbon monoxide poisoning near a running vehicle in a closed garage where they had been having sex.
The 39-year-old woman and her 56-year-old lover - who sources believe was her mechanic - were discovered just before 9 p.m. Monday at a house in Newark.
Law enforcement leaders told the station they think the woman was paying for work on a vehicle by having sex with the mechanic.
The pair was reportedly found in a running auto in the closed garage.
Tragically, Hargrave's husband, Kahali Johnson, found the bodies.
Hargrave, a mother to at least two girls, died because there were no carbon monoxide alarms in the garage, her family said.
"As I tried to step to open the last garage door, I see the mechanic, he's laid out", Hargrave's husband, Kahali Johnson said.
Sources told the station the man killed was the woman's mechanic.
'And pretty much I had to call 911, because at this time, with that level of emissions, I knew that they were gone'. We don't know, ' she said.
Police pronounced both the mechanic and Hargrave dead at the scene, adding that their deaths "appear to be accidental". The way he sees it, it's the fault of whoever build the apartment complex because they didn't install proper alarms. "She was everything to me. My mother could still be alive".
Newark Fire Division evacuated the building to protect other residents, and one person was taken to the hospital for evaluation, she said.
The grieving husband, Johnson, is blaming the alarm systems in the garage.
