An anti-graft court in Pakistan today adjourned the hearing in a corruption case against convicted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif after the defence lawyer urged the judge to recuse himself from the case.

Upon being asked about her playing Benazir Bhutto's (BB) role, Maryam responded that she had the upmost respect for her and her struggle, but she is Maryam Nawaz, an independent identity, thus should not be compared to BB.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz said on Monday that the accountability process against the Sharif family was a hard time but the party stands united while facing this trouble.

While they will not face any difficulty in coming to Pakistan, they are expected to be arrested during the immigration process at the airport as per standard procedure for all those placed on the ECL, Geo TV reported.

As some of them gained access to the apartment, one protester threw a shopping cart at Aijaz Gul, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) United Kingdom unit. "We will make sure that Sharif and Maryam do not leave the airport and arrested there", he said. The sentences will run concurrently which means the former prime minister will serve 10 years in jail.

No arrests have been made as yet, they said, adding that legal action will be initiated over the destruction to private property.

"Since the road option may be hard for the authorities concerned with regard to provide security cover, a helicopter should be provided to the NAB to avoid problems in the arrest and shifting them (Nawaz and Maryam) to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi after producing them before the accountability court", the official said. Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurenzeb said Sharif and Maryam will arrive in Lahore on Friday via Abu Dhabi on a foreign airline.

"Our workers can not be stopped by any hurdle", she said.
