Don't Cool Down by Eating Frozen Supermarket Vegetables
The listeria case was identified in Australia in February and is now being linked to the recalled frozen vegetables.
But the patient's death earlier this year means authorities will never know if they ate the suspect vegies.
It is particularly risky for pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
The recall of the frozen vegetables originating from Belgium and Hungary was issued on Monday.
While properly cooked frozen vegetables are safe to eat, if uncooked or undercooked they can pose a serious listeria threat.
Consumers should not consume this product and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Aldi is carrying most of the potentially listeria-infected products.
Fellow reader Zeila Hoare agreed, saying she would like to see the law change surrounding the exportation of fresh produce: "We should be lobbying the government to make it mandatory that we supply all our fruits and vegetables here and only the excess goes overseas".
Listeriosis, caused by Listeria, is a flu-like disease which weakens the immune systems and causes fever muscles aches and diarrhoea.
The mix has sweetcorn from a Greenyard factory in Hungary that may have been the source of a listeria outbreak.
The number of reported cases per week has decreased since implicated products were recalled in March 2018.
Woolies said other frozen sweetcorn or vegetable products were unaffected.
The same strains of the bacteria had been detected in frozen vegetables produced by the same Hungarian company in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
More than a week ago, the Hungarian agency banned the marketing of all frozen vegetable and frozen mixed vegetable products made by the affected Hungarian plant and ordered their immediate withdrawal and recall.
Carstensen says the product has been tested and found to be compliant.
"We endorse the advice to cook frozen products until it has reached 70°C and stayed at that temperature for at least two minutes".
