09 August 2018, 06:40 | Cameron Gross

Xiaomi Mi A2 4GB variant launched at Rs 16999 in India

Xiaomi Mi A2 exclusive launch today; Here are features, price and more

Mi A2 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and comes with minimal pre-loaded apps according to the company.

For connectivity, the phone comes with the latest Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C for data syncing and charging, IR blaster and other basic connectivity features. Now, as reported by MySmartPrice, the same model is available for pre-order on Amazon.in app for Rs. 17,499. The Mi A2 will be available in two variants - 4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB internal storage variant and a little higher price bucket for 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. However, Xiaomi has only launched the 4GB/64GB variant in India. The phone will be exclusively available on Amazon starting from Aug 9 at 12noon. Talking about the cameras, the Mi A2 sports dual rear cameras featuring 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor with f/1.75 aperture, 1.25μm pixel size, EIS, and a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with f/1.75 aperture, 2.0μm pixels. The display has Full HD+ 1080×2160 resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio. The company has announced the Mi 8 in China as their new flagship and it is expected that the phone will launch in India this month.

If you've ever looked at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, which is the best smartphone in its class and one of the best bang-for-buck handsets you could buy, and thought "Hey, it's still not quite worth the money", there's good news. Asus seems poised to take on OnePlus and we therefore expect them to undercut OnePlus prices by a significant margin, making it one of the cheapest Snapdragon 845 phones around. Incidentally, Xiaomi Mi A2 does not have a 3.5mm audio jack, which means traditional 3.5mm headphones can not be connected to the smartphones directly.

It is backed by a 3,010mAh non-removable battery and comes with a 5V/2A power adapter.

Despite running stock Android, Xiaomi has bundled conveniences like Mi Drop, File Manager, and a dedicated feedback button on the Mi A2. Good news is Mi device will soon be updated to Android Pie. Another thing to note is that the device will be an Amazon exclusive handset. Xiaomi Mi A2 will come with Android One out of the box which not only means stock Android experience, but also quick roll-out of updates.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 shines in the imaging department. It will also include a 20MP front-facing camera. The camera offers AI-powered Portrait Mode and 4K video capture at 30 fps. The camera appears to lack OIS.
