DavisWebb takes a snap from the Giants' new-look offensive line in Thursday night's preseason opener

Baker Mayfield did a lot of things well in his National Football League preseason debut Thursday night against the Giants, including prove to his many lazy Johnny Manziel-comparing doubters that he's a lot more pro-ready than they think.

His second, though, put on display some of the qualities the Browns - 20-10 winners over the Giants on Thursday - fell for in drafting the former Oklahoma star first overall in April's draft. That's unlikely, as Hue Jackson and John Dorsey have up until now been steadfast in the support of the starter, Taylor, who couldn't have been more efficient in his own Browns debut. "It was the first time going on the road with a new team, first time in the NFL". He showed the right mix of decisiveness and deliberation with his delivery. He then almost found controversial rookie Antonio Callaway, in the lineup only days after receiving a marijuana citation that he didn't immediately inform the Browns of, on a deep shot that Callaway couldn't locate. He finished his debut with a completion on a 54-yard, slant-and-run score to fellow rookie Antonio Callaway.

His first series ended with a three-and-out, but he quickly led the Browns on an impressive touchdown drive the next time he got the ball. Rutgers rookie RB Robert Martin gained 39 yards on five carries and caught two passes for 11 yards. The Cleveland Browns are ready for the preseason action.

The Browns are used to having their QB situation be a mess.
