‘Fahrenheit 11/9’ Trailer: Michael Moore Doc Targets Mid-Term Elections

Fahrenheit 11/9: first trailer for Michael Moore's Trump documentary

Released on September 21 ahead of the USA's upcoming midterm elections, the title Fahrenheit 11/9 refers to the date the Associated Press called the election for Trump, while also alluding to Moore's 2004 documentary Fahrenheit 9/11.

Based on the trailer, the Oscar-winning Moore will tackle everything from the Parkland, Florida, school shooting, gun ownership, and the rise of young gun-control activists David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez to the ongoing water crisis in his hometown of Flint, Michigan, and those standing opposed to Trump. "This is the movie that will end the madness". They're getting steamrolled by a tyrant because Trump understands media and understands the country he lives in more than those that cover him do.

The Huffington Post published the trailer.

Throughout the trailer, there are snippets that show the wide range of topics that will be covered in the documentary, including the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, the emboldening of white nationalists, an increase in toxic nationalism, as well as NY congressional democratic primary victor Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

"Hope is passive", Moore said about the movie.

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment in 2016 on the eve of the release of his last film Where to Invade Next Moore advised Irish people to ridicule Trump on a planned but subsequently cancelled visit to Ireland. At the awards ceremony, Moore took the opportunity to speak out against President George W. Bush and the Iraq War during his acceptance speech, a rhetoric that was met with a decidedly less than enthusiastic reaction at the time. He began shooting the film a year ago with the "11/9" in the title referring to the day Trump was declared President of the United States on November 9, 2016. We don't need hope.
