Omarosa: Trump acted 'like a dog off the leash'

11 August 2018, 07:57 | Regina Holmes

Omarosa Claims Trump Repeatedly Used 'N-Word' During 'The Apprentice'

Omarosa book paints Trump as racist and repeats claim there are tapes of President using N-word on ‘Apprentice’ set

While it's likely she and others will (continue to) try to discredit Omarosa, it's worth remembering that Omarosa was hired by Trump and paid the highest salary of any White House staff members in her job as assistant to the president and director of communications for the office of public liaison.

Omarosa Manigault Newman went from the fan-favorite villain on The Apprentice to a top aide to Donald Trump in the White House. In her book, to be released on Tuesday, Newman does not specify whether she heard Trump use the slur or whether she saw footage of him using it.

She also claims Trump used racial slurs to describe George Conway, the husband of White House adviser Kellyanne Conway who is half Filipino. Using the N-word wasn't just the way he talks but, more disturbing, it was how he thought of me and African-Americans as a whole'.

Omarosa also writes in the book that she witnessed Trump making other racist remarks firsthand. "But I knew something wasn't right", Manigault-Newman writes in her "Unhinged" book, as previously reported by IJR. "He'd said it multiple times throughout the show's taping during off-camera outtakes, particularly during the first season of The Apprentice". After Omarosa's reportedly dramatic firing in December, Politico reported that chief of staff John Kelly let her go because she was allegedly abusing White House vehicle service privileges, among other infractions. Omarosa claims Trump used the derogatory terms "flip" and "goo-goo" in regard to Conway, but Conway himself thinks that's "absurd", he tweeted.

The hush money offer was reportedly offered by Trump campaign advisor and daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who is married to Eric Trump.

In the book, however, a passage near the end claims that she merely heard a recounting of the recording from a friend. But on Friday, he said he doesn't believe Manigault-Newman's allegation.

Incredibly, this person - who shall remain nameless - picked up the phone. "It must have been something very, very sensitive", she writes in her book.

"Instead of telling the truth about all the good President Trump and his administration are doing to make America safe and prosperous, this book is riddled with lies and false accusations", press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.
