The US president announced his intention to visit taking the Government by surprise, but in an about-turn so redolent of the main man himself, it seems the plans have been changed.

Press Secretary of the White house Sarah Sanders stated that the final decision about whether to stop the tramp in Ireland during a trip to Europe is still pending.

Mr Varadkar said there is a standing invitation for any USA president to come to Ireland and many have in the past.

Donald Trump's plan to visit Ireland for the first time as US president this November has been canceled for scheduling reasons, the Irish government announced on Tuesday.

Last month the United States president announced his intention to come to Ireland taking the government by surprise.

Visiting Ireland will not take place at the previously arranged time.

Mr. Trump was expected to face widespread protests in Ireland. "As details are confirmed we will let you know", Sanders said.

The government in Dublin confirmed in a statement that "the proposed visit of the USA president is postponed".

Neither Trump nor the White House has commented on the possible cancellation.

In its announcement, the White House said the visit would serve to "renew the deep and historic ties between our two nations".

The meeting would apparently be on the sidelines of the World War I Armistice Day ceremonies on November 11.

The giant "baby Trump balloon" flown during the US President's trip to the US was set to take to the skies in Ireland during his visit.

Speaking to RTE radio earlier this month, Mr Varadkar said the prospect of a visit "came a little bit out of the blue".

Trump's family business operates a golf club on Ireland's west coast.

"A number of government ministers, who are independents as it is a minority government, were planning to join the protests", the source said.

It was to be his first visit to the country since becoming president in 2016. "I think we have to treat his office with the respect it deserves".
