Mychal Kendricks was released by the Browns after being charged with insider trading

Rookie fifth-round selection Shaquem Griffin started for Wright last week but was pulled late in favor of Austin Calitro after he "got fooled on a couple things", as Carroll put it.

It's no secret that free agent linebacker Mychael Kendricks is a quality talent on the field, but he's had trouble finding a job after pleading guilty to insider trading on September 6.

Schefter also reported Kendricks could be sentenced to 30-37 months in prison after he admitted to earning about $1.2 million in illegal profits in four major trading deals.

Kendricks, who used tips to acquire more than $1.2 million, has a sentencing hearing now scheduled for January 24, which is four days after the AFC and NFC Championship games. Seattle played the opener without starting linebacker K.J. Wright due to minor knee surgery in late August, and All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner was an unexpected addition to the Seahawks injury report on Thursday with a groin injury.

Kendricks was released in May by the Eagles, but signed with Browns during the offseason.

"It's always going to be all the way through this first season and into next year is just getting really sharp", Carroll said. "He felt pretty good".

Kendricks was indicted along with "Black-ish" TV writer Damilare Sonoiki, a Harvard educated former investment banker.

We'll see as this all unfolds what type of punishment Kendricks will face for his actions.

Kendricks played 15 games for the Philadelphia Eagles previous year, finishing the 2017 season with 2.0 sacks and 15 tackles.

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to sign linebacker Mychal Kendricks to a one-year contract despite his recent guilty plea on insider trading charges.

According to the Inquirer, Kendricks said he was pleading guilty "because I know I was wrong".
